FAQ
How do I choose the most economical roll width based on my finished product requirements?
The core logic is “total finished product width + trimming waste”.
For example, if you are producing 80mm cash register paper, choosing a 795mm or 800mm roll is ideal. This allows for slitting into 10 rolls, keeping waste edges below 5mm and maximizing yield.
What are the substantial differences between 55gsm and 65gsm thermal rolls in slitting applications?
Primarily, it’s about balancing length and thickness.
55gsm is thinner, resulting in a longer roll length for the same outer diameter, reducing roll changeover frequency during slitting.
65gsm is thicker, offering a better feel, and is typically used for high-quality logistics labels or high-end cash register paper.
Why is a 3-inch/76mm core recommended for Jumbo Rolls?
This is an internationally recognized industry standard, compatible with the air shafts of over 95% of high-speed slitting machines worldwide.
For extra-large rolls weighing over 1 ton, we also offer 6-inch reinforced cores to prevent core collapse under high tension.
What is the shelf life of thermal rolls? How should they be stored?
Under original packaging conditions—protected from light, dry, and at a temperature below 30°C—Likexin thermal base paper can be stably stored for over 2 years.
Remember not to allow direct contact with water on the ground, and strictly prohibit storage with chemicals containing plasticizers.
Troubleshooting Guide
Uneven Color Development or Insufficient Blackness
• Possible Cause: The coating sensitivity is incompatible with the test printer after slitting, or the raw paper has become damp during storage.
• Troubleshooting Steps:
a. Check if the moisture-proof packaging on the roll end is damaged.
b. Confirm if there is carbon buildup on the printhead.
c. Technical Suggestion: If the outer 50 meters of the roll are pale, it is usually due to the storage environment. Remove the outer layer and test the inner layer.
Frequent Paper Breakage During Slitting
• Possible Cause: The machine tension is set too high, or there are small tears on the edge of the roll.
• Troubleshooting Steps:
a. Observe the break. If the break is clean, it is usually due to a momentary excessive tension; if the break is jagged, it is usually due to stress concentration caused by damage to the roll edge.
b. Solution: Appropriately reduce the unwind tension of the slitting machine. If severe edge compression is found due to pallet collapse, please take photos and report the batch number immediately.
Paper Curling or Telescoping
• Possible Cause: Inconsistent slitting and winding tension, or uneven moisture distribution in the roll itself (common in low-end base paper).
• Troubleshooting Steps:
a. Measure the humidity of the slitting environment. It is recommended to maintain the ambient humidity between 45% and 65%.
b. Check if the core is off-center.
Dust Accumulation on Finished Products After Slitting
• Possible Causes: Dull slitting blades, or insufficient smoothness of the base paper surface.
• Troubleshooting Steps:
a. Replace or sharpen the slitting blades first.
b. Material Inspection: Observe the color of the dust.
If it is white powder, it is mostly surface filler; if it is grayish-black, it is coating peeling.
Likexin uses high-toughness surface coating technology, which can effectively resist slitting shearing force and protect your machine’s printhead from paper dust.
